Centrifuge Shaking Table Test on the Seismic Dynamics of Revetment Breakwater and a Nearby Aircraft Runway Built on Reclaimed Coral Sand Foundation

There are currently at least five aircraft runways built on the reclaimed coral sand foundations in South China Sea (SCS). The seismic dynamics and stability of revetment breakwaters nearby lands with SCS deserve attention. Taking reclamation engineering as background, this study performed several centrifuge shaking table tests (N = 50 g) to explore a breakwater runway foundation. It is revealed that breakwater, runway, their foundation have intensively responded excitation waves. pore water pressure accumulates foundation; however, accumulation amplitude not significant. As result, only soil softening, rather than liquefaction, has occurred final residual subsidence both about 0.5 mm, indicating they finally stable state. Through comparative study, it found loose much easier accumulate, corresponding acceleration amplification effect also more means detrimental airport runways.
